Conference on Gandhi

The 33rd Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gandhian Studies (ISGS) was concluded at IGNOU, Delhi, at the end of October. It was the second that I attended together with the 30th at Latur in 2007. It was a great success, with a large attendance, and with comfortable Delhi weather. I am grateful to the organizers. I met old friends and made new ones. It was pleasant to see many younger people moving around among the veteran scholars/workers.

Introductory on Japan and Asia

Why a Japanese, that is me, is going to write in English? Certainly it is a thrill to do so. A far more important reason, however, is not much of substantive message is going out of Japan. Particularly so on how Japan is, has been, or should be, in relation to the neighbouring countries, mainly but not necessarily in Asia, but also including those along the Pacific rim. We will discuss aspects of Japan as they are concerned with Asia. We may also discuss things in a broader perspective. I will write twice or three times a month, or even more often, as ideas hit upon me. There may be some travelogue as well. The reader may want to know who I am. I am a male, fairly well-travelled if not so well-read. As the title of the blog suggests, I am inviting comments, not necessarily in tune with what I may say. Please note that they need my approval before they are exhibited here. Let us start before long then. Thank you.
